
Henry Nkwanga
Director
Henry Nkwanga is a Director at I.T. Transport Limited (ITT), with nine years of experience in highways and transportation working as a UK-based consultant and international development expert, and over 16 years of experience in the civil engineering sector. He is a UK Chartered Engineer (CEng) and holds a BSc. Surveying degree from Makerere University (Uganda) and a MSc. Road Management and Engineering degree from the University of Birmingham (UK). Henry’s core competencies include business development, project formulation, project management, designing and undertaking transport sector research, transport Infrastructure asset management, pavement engineering, institutional reform and capacity building.
At ITT, Henry leads on Business Development and Technical Delivery, covering a range of transport infrastructure-related projects in multiple countries around Africa and Latin America. The projects are typically funded by various development partners, including the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), World Bank, African Development Bank (AfDB), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB).
In a recently concluded role as the Regional Technical Manager for East and Southern Africa for the DFID-funded Research for Community Access Partnership (ReCAP) programme, Henry provided long-term technical assistance and strategic advice to transport agencies, and promoted the uptake and embedment of transport sector research in developing countries. He is currently working as the Project Director for the Eswatini road sector reform project, and a diagnostic study in Ghana, funded by the AfDB and World Bank.
Through his engagements, Henry continues to focus on making a contribution towards the provision of safe and sustainable transport infrastructure and services in developing countries.
