About the opportunity

In October, 2022, the Ethiopia Roads Administration (ERA) signed a 5-year contract with I. T. Transport Ltd (ITT), in association with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research Center (CSIR), for the provision of Consultancy Services for the Technical Assistance (TA) of ERA Road Research Center (RRC). The TA is funded by the World Bank.

The objective of this TA is to render the required consultancy services to enhance the capacity of the ERA RRC and the researchers to provide quality research outputs to the industry, and support the future demands of design, construction, maintenance, management and safe operation of the road network. To support the implementation of the TA, ITT is seeking the services of a Research Specialist to join the team.  The position will be full-time, based in Addis Ababa.

About you

The core competencies required are:

• PhD Degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Fifteen (15) years of experience in highway engineering, highway planning, network management and/or road transport policy.
• 5-year experience in organizing and delivering technical courses related to road engineering, road management and maintenance.
• 5-year experience in quality management systems (ISO9001) in relation to research planning, management and delivery
• Management and practical experience in theoretical and experimental road-related research programs.
• Demonstrable experience in writing and reviewing quality and internationally peer-reviewed articles for publication in appropriate journals.
• Competence in the use of computers and application software for data management and analysis.
